Senior Year Is More Than One Moment

Senior year is a season unlike any other. It's filled with firsts, lasts, celebrations, and milestones that pass in the blink of an eye. Between the first day of school and graduation, many seniors experience an incredible transformation. They become more confident, more independent, and more themselves.

At Life in Portraits, I see it every year.

The student who arrives for senior portraits in late summer often isn't the same young adult who proudly walks across the graduation stage the following spring. Their confidence shines brighter. They've finished their final sports season, performed in their last concert, committed to a college or career path, and grown in ways that are impossible to measure.

That's why I created the exclusive Senior Year in Portraits Package, a two-session experience designed to capture both the excitement of senior year and the pride of graduation.

Two Portrait Sessions. One Incredible Story.

Instead of trying to capture an entire year in a single session, the Senior Year in Portraits Package includes two portrait experiences.

Senior Experience

Session One: Senior Portraits

Your first session takes place before school begins or early in the fall.

These portraits are perfect for:

  • Yearbook submissions
  • Graduation announcements
  • Family wall art
  • Social media
  • Senior keepsakes

We'll photograph you at one of Colorado's beautiful outdoor locations or choose a setting that reflects your personality and interests.

Session Two: Graduation Portraits

As graduation approaches, it's time to celebrate everything you've accomplished.

This second session captures you in your cap and gown while everything is still fresh with excitement. We'll also have time for a few portraits in your favorite outfit to celebrate who you've become throughout the year.

These images are perfect for:

  • Thank you cards
  • Gifts for grandparents
  • Wall portraits
  • Social media
  • Celebrating your next chapter

Every family has different goals for their portraits. Explore our Pricing Guide to learn more about the collections, artwork, and digital options available.

Why Families Love the Senior Year In Portraits Package

Parents often tell me how quickly senior year flies by.

Having portraits from both the beginning and the end of this incredible journey tells the complete story. It preserves not only how your senior looked, but who they became during one of life's biggest transitions.

The difference can be remarkable. A new level of confidence. A different smile. A sense of excitement about what's ahead.

Those are memories worth preserving.

Frequently Asked Questions

When is the best time to schedule senior portraits?

Most families schedule their senior portrait session between July and September, since many high schools require yearbook photos to be submitted by October. Booking early also gives you plenty of time to enjoy your portraits for graduation announcements and wall art.

That said, it's never too late to celebrate your senior! If the yearbook deadline has passed, we can focus on creating portraits that reflect who they are right now. Whether that means photographing them during their favorite winter sport, surrounded by Colorado's spring wildflowers, or at a meaningful location, we'll create images that tell their unique story.

Can I bring sports equipment or personal items?

Absolutely! I always encourage seniors to bring items that reflect their personality and passions. Whether it's a guitar, sports equipment, a letter jacket, your first truck, dance shoes, or anything else that's meaningful to you, these personal touches make your portraits uniquely yours.

And yes...dogs are always welcome! If your siblings are an important part of your story, they're welcome to join for a few portraits, too.

Do I need my cap and gown for the second session?

Not right away. Most schools don't distribute caps and gowns until a few weeks before graduation, often you will know when in mid-March. As soon as you know when you'll receive yours, we'll schedule your graduation session so we can capture this exciting milestone.

For example, Arvada West High School seniors typically have their caps and gowns for only a few days before returning them right after graduation, so it's important to reserve your session as soon as your distribution date is announced.

What should my senior wear, and how many outfits should they bring?

Most seniors bring two to three outfits, which provides a great variety without making the session feel rushed. I always recommend choosing outfits that reflect your senior's personality and style while offering a mix of casual and dressier looks.

Layers are one of my favorite ways to create variety. Adding a denim jacket, cardigan, flannel, or vest can completely change the look of an outfit without requiring a full wardrobe change. Accessories like hats, jewelry, or different shoes can also add personality and help create a diverse gallery.

To make planning easy, every senior receives my Senior Style Guide, packed with tips on what photographs beautifully, what to avoid, how to coordinate colors, and what's currently trending. Together, we'll make sure your senior arrives feeling confident, prepared, and excited for their session.

LETS START PLANNING!

Whether you're in Arvada, Golden, Lakewood, Littleton, Boulder, or anywhere throughout the Denver metro area and Colorado's Front Range, I'd love to help you celebrate this incredible milestone. Contact Life in Portraits today to begin planning your senior portrait experience.
